Background Information

Dr. Simon Zadek is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Centre for Government and Business of Harvard University’s Kennedy School, a Senior Advisor on Sustainability to the World Economic Forum focused on climate finance and sustainable consumption, an Honorary Professor at the University of South Africa, and an Associate Senior Fellow at the International Institute of Sustainable Development. He founded, and was until recently Chief Executive of Account Ability, where he established the organization’s global leadership in sustainability standards, collaborative governance and responsible competitiveness, and before this was the founding Chair of the Ethical Trading Initiative and a Director at the prestigious think-tank, the New Economics Foundation. In 2003 he was named a World Economic Forum “Global Leader for Tomorrow”.

In this upcoming seminar in Tsinghua University on “International trends in responsible business”, Dr. Zadek will talk about what has two decades of developments in “responsible business” delivered in practice, exploring the state of leading practices, voluntary sustainability standards, changing regulatory environment, and most recently the emergency of sustainability as a core strategic issue for business and national competitiveness issue for policy makers.
